Brazilian side Flamengo are close to landing Manchester City winger Marlos Moreno on a year-long loan deal, Globo Esporte reports.
The 21-year-old has struggled since his £4.75million move to City from Atlético Nacional in 2016, getting very little game time during a loan spell at Deportivo La Coruña and suffering similar misfortune at CFG member Girona FC.
Flamengo, who could offer the player Copa Libertadores football in 2018, have stepped up their efforts to sign the prodigious Colombian in recent days and believe they are close to acquiring him.
Moreno’s agent, Humberto Quiceno, has been in Rio de Janeiro to finalise negotiations with Flamengo, who have had Marlos on their agenda since the end of last year.
When asked for a comment, Manchester City representative Xevi Marcé said to Globo Esporte: “I can not talk about it.”
His former club Atlético Nacional have also shown interest in taking him home, and like Flamengo could offer him football in the prestigious Copa Libertadores, but it appears that Brazilian giants Flamengo are in pole position to sign the struggling City starlet.
