Shakhtar Donetsk and Brazil international Fred has responded positively to reports that he is one of the names being considered by Pep Guardiola to reinforce the Manchester City midfielder next season.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who has been capped six times by the Seleção, was interviewed during a charity game in Brazil with Globo Esporte publishing some quite interesting comments.
“I’m eagerly waiting for Guardiola’s phone call to arrive,” the Ukraine-based player said. “I think I would grow a lot with him. I can still grow [as a player].
“England is the best league in the world, I’ve always had the dream of playing there. It could suit me well. It would be important to play in England with one of the great coaches. It’s a dream I have.”
Fred featured twice against City for Shakhtar in this year’s Champions League group stage and appeared to catch the eye of Pep, leading to the Premier League leaders considering him to replace Yaya Touré and, ultimately, Fernandinho.
Fernandinho, now 32, was signed from Shakhtar, a club with a traditional of locating and developing excellent Brazilian players.
