Shay Facey ends decade-plus stay at Manchester City with move to Northampton

League One side Northampton Town have completed the signing of former England under-20 international defender Shay Facey from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old joined City in 2007 and rose through the ranks before joining partner club New York City FC on loan in their first season. Subsequent loan spells at Rotherham United and Dutch club Heerenveen followed, with the latter being cut short for unexplained reasons.

Shay will now continue his career under the tutelage of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and revealed that he’ll be used mainly on the right at his new club.
