David Silva has had two separate absences from Manchester City games lately due to what has only been described as “personal reasons”.
Silva missed the big match against Tottenham in December, followed by a midweek Carabao Cup game against Leicester. Things seemed resolved when he returned to feature against Bournemouth just before Christmas, only for another unexplained absence to follow, during which he missed the Newcastle and Crystal Palace fixtures.
Spanish journalist Jose Alvarez Haya, who has been on top of everything related to Silva and Sergio Aguero lately, has revealed the nature of his absence. In a tweet, he says it was related to the pregnancy of Silva’s wife.
The couple had wanted discretion and privacy during the issue, but the good news is that “now everything is okay”. This should ensure that Silva is available for all upcoming City matches.

Silva has reportedly made himself available to face Watford tonight at the Etihad and could play some part as Pep Guardiola’s men look to begin 2018 with a win.
