The 31-year-old has had two separate absences recently for personal reasons, described as a “serious family problem” by the Spanish press recently.
With De Bruyne almost certain to miss the game, Silva’s creativity could be key to unlocking Marco Silva’s Watford in City’s first fixture of 2018.
