City Summary – December 26: More Van Dijk to City stories, Kompany’s plan against complacency, City and Arsenal eye Germany U17 starlet

Catch up on all of today’s Manchester City news with our City Summary!

The Virgil van Dijk speculation continues. He was left out of Southampton’s squad today before they were hammered by Tottenham.

And while some are reporting he could be Anfield-bound, more stories are surfacing of City pushing to close a deal for the 26-year-old Dutchman.

City can go FIFTEEN points clear tomorrow if they beat Newcastle after Manchester United slipped up against Burnley at Old Trafford today.

And Mourinho had another moan about City.

What is the best way for City to avoid complacency this season? Vincent Kompany has been around long enough to know – and it’s to think back to 2011/12 when most Blues had given up, but United managed to drop an eight point lead with just six games to go.

Yaya Touré has decided to overturn this international retirement and will soon don the Ivory Coast shirt again.

Dimitri also confirmed that Yaya will not be departing the Etihad Stadium in January. His farewell will come at the end of the season – hopefully with the Premier League trophy (and dare we dream for more?).

City and Arsenal are both monitoring the contract situation of German youth international Dennis Jastrzembski, who plays for Hertha BSC.

That’s it for today. Keep your eyes peeled on @City_Watch and the site, day and night, as we work to deliver the latest City news, views, and other high-quality content.
