Pozo, 21, was considered one of City’s brightest young prospects but was hit by injury problems and sold to Almería in his native Andalusia for a reported fee of £365,000 in 2015. City had a two-year buy-back option which expired last summer.
And now, the former Spain under-19 international is set for a move from the Segunda División side to Barcelona, where it is reported he will start in their B team before joining the first-team squad.
Should the deal go through, Pozo will reunite with Denis Suárez, another City starlet who left for the Camp Nou, and who has made over 50 appearances in the last one-and-a-half seasons.
Pozo made five first-team appearances for City in the 2014/15 season before leaving, three of them in the Premier League during Manuel Pellegrini’s tenure as manager.
