Manchester City have continued their aggressive recruitment of elite young prospects by acquiring two players from the academy of Portuguese giants Sporting CP, SPORT has revealed.
— Diario SPORT (@sport) December 15, 2017
The Catalan newspaper only learned this information because Barcelona also made moves for the two teenagers, who are unnamed, only to be met with disappointment.
Barça officials recently visited Sporting’s facilities to see the two players in action. They then spoke to representatives of the duo, but found out that Manchester City had already made a play and obtained rights for both of them.
It is another example of how professionally City is run at all levels these days, with scouts posted all over the world, boosted by the City Football Group network, which means there are offices and hubs in strategic places across the globe.
Though the two Sporting talents have not been named, it appears that two (presumably) Portuguese talents will soon be joining the ranks at the City Football Academy.
