Pep’s Presser: Silva, Kompany & Delph injury updates ahead of United vs City, feelings on the Manchester derby

Pep Guardiola addressed the press today ahead of this weekend’s huge Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

He started with the big news – and the great news. David Silva is fit for selection and will play against Manchester United on Sunday!

“Silva is going to play,” the boss confirmed.

There are lingering doubts as to whether Vincent Kompany and Fabian Delph will play. Pep confirmed their status, with both set to be checked tomorrow.

“Vincent felt something and was not comfortable before Wednesday’s game, and that’s why he could not play. Delph was sick, he vomited and had a fever and that’s why he couldn’t play.”

On Walker and Otamendi

“Kyle and Nico were the only guys who could play who didn’t. Today is their day off, so I don’t know the other players but tomorrow I will check the others’ condition.”

It’s a big Manchester derby on Sunday, but Pep sounded relaxed and ready to enjoy the experience.

“Going to Old Trafford is a pleasure. That’s why we are here. I will enjoy it, definitely. I am looking forward to arriving and playing. I love to be there, working out what we can do to beat them. After we will shake hands.”

Jose Mourinho has often said he is obsessed with winning, and Guardiola was asked if he is too.

“In that we are twins,” he responded.
