Juventus are in pole position to land Germany midfielder Emre Can from Liverpool, Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport reported on Thursday.
The 23-year-old is heavily linked with Juve and Manchester City, while Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest in re-signing their former youth player.
However, it is the Old Lady who are at the front of the pack for the midfielder. It is reported that an international intermediary representing Man City contacted Can’s entourage in recent days to follow up on their interest, but learned that Juventus are the best positioned to sign him.
Juventus chiefs Beppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici have done a lot of groundwork on a deal for Can, who is out of contract in June 2018 and refusing to extend his stay at Anfield.
The Serie A champions have not yet closed a deal, but Can is attracted by their project and the idea of moving from the north of England to Turin, meaning Juventus are becoming more and more confident of beating City and others to this big free transfer coup.
