Pat Nevin claims Chelsea defender is a top transfer target for Pep Guardiola

Former Chelsea and Everton player turned pundit, Pat Nevin, has claimed that Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen and would like to sign him.

The 21-year-old Dane has made 11 appearances for Chelsea this season, impressing after a good loan spell at Borussia Mönchengladbach in Germany.

Speaking to Irish radio station Newsweek, Nevin said: “I heard a wee whisper, and I don’t know if it’s true, but the player he would really like more than anyone else is Andreas Christensen from Chelsea.”

Guardiola was seen chatting to Christensen after City’s win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this season and hinted in 2016 that he had some interest in the centre-back.

It seems very unlikely that Chelsea would sanction the sale of such a promising young player, who could form a long-term partnership with John Stones in the heart of City’s defence, and any deal seems unlikely unless the player pushed for it.
