City are said to be one of five notable clubs, along with domestic rivals Chelsea, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, and two other German sides, Hamburg and RB Leipzig, to have a ‘serious interest’ in the 20-year-old midfielder.
Frenkie is fully aware of the speculation and was quizzed about alleged interest from City and Bayern Munich.
“A lot has been written about me lately. Some of the rumours are true, but I am not contemplating a transfer right now,” De Jong revealed.
“I doubt I’d be a starter at Bayern Munich or Manchester City right away, anyway.
“Me in midfield next to Kevin De Bruyne… that’d be something.”
The youngster sounded very enthused about the idea of lining up alongside KDB, but for the time being seems content to continue his development at Ajax.
However, it certainly sounds like Frenkie de Jong wouldn’t mind the chance to line up for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City – when the time is right.
