Real Madrid have contacted Patrick De Koster, the agent of Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne, to register their interest in signing the Belgian, City Watch has learned from a source close to the player.
The Spanish giants are looking to replenish their squad with high-quality additions and while they have informed De Bruyne’s representative of their interest, they have made no formal approach to City.
De Bruyne was informed of Real Madrid’s interest, but has made it clear that his intent is to remain at Manchester City – and unless of any big surprises, he will sign a new contract in the coming months that will ward off major European suitors.
Paris Saint-Germain, who put up a serious fight to sign De Bruyne from Wolfsburg before he opted for City, have also shown interest in recruiting him as part of their ambitious project.
The interest of such prominent European clubs shows how high De Bruyne has risen in the game, with the midfielder reaching new levels under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola.
The 26-year-old has 10 assists across the Premier League and Champions League this season, and has contributed 5 goals in the two competitions.
