Manchester City have continued to monitor Real Sociedad and Spain defender Iñigo Martínez after being linked with a move for the 26-year-old in the previous window.
According to Martin Blackburn of The Sun, City scouts have been keeping an eye on the left-footed centre-back, who could also slot in at left-back, as Pep Guardiola considers options for reinforcing the squad in January.
Any move could depend heavily on how Vincent Kompany’s latest return from injury pans out, with John Stones expected to be back in action around the end of the calendar year, which could give City a full cast of centre-backs with Stones, Otamendi, Kompany and Mangala if the club captain stays healthy.
Martínez has made 8 appearances for Real Sociedad so far this season and was reportedly close to joining Barcelona in the summer before remaining at the Anoeta Stadium. He has also won 4 caps for the Spain national team, the most recent in November 2016 against England.
