City are joined by domestic rivals Chelsea, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, and two other German sides, Hamburg and RB Leipzig, in having what is described as a ‘serious interest’ in the 20-year-old.
It isn’t the first time De Jong’s name has been linked with City, with The Sun reporting interest early in November.
Now a credible source from the Netherlands has backed up that report, while adding that a number of other clubs are interested in the talented young midfielder.
The Dutch under-21 international moved to Jong Ajax from Willem II in 2015 and won their Talent of the Season award before being moved up to the first team.
He has made 12 appearances across the Eredivisie and UEFA Champions League for Ajax, sporting an impressive pass success rate of 91.4%. Passing is one of De Jong’s strong points and is surely one of the features that has City interested.

Ajax want to hold on to De Jong, who is out of contract in 2019, with the player having an option to extend it until 2022. De Jong himself is more interested in focusing on his football at the moment, but with prolific clubs watching him, it may just be a matter of time before he is on the move.
