Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has revealed that he would rather have Pep Guardiola in charge at Old Trafford than current boss Jose Mourinho.
The Frenchman, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, said: “I love Mourinho as a manager, but the football we played under Ferguson was very creative. It’s more Manchester United.
“That’s why I prefer the way Guardiola plays and would prefer to have him as manager.”
The 51-year-old did make his allegiance clear, despite his public preference for Manchester City’s manager over Manchester United’s incumbent.
“I prefer to watch a game when Barcelona game, or… I don’t watch Manchester City because it’s Manchester City, but I would love to play in a team managed by Guardiola.”
Pep’s City are current 8 points clear of Jose’s United with twelve games played and the Manchester derby coming up on 10 December. Before then, City face Huddersfield, Southampton and West Ham in the league and will hope to go to Old Trafford still unbeaten.
