Gabriel Jesus has dropped a hint that he plans to remain at Manchester City for many years – possibly even beyond Pep Guardiola’s tenure as manager.
In quotes printed by the Mirror, 20-year-old Jesus expressed his admiration for Sergio Agüero before revealing his desire to break Kun’s newly broken record as City’s all-time leading goalscorer.
“Sergio has broken an amazing record for City,” Jesus is quoted as saying. “I support him totally and I hope I can beat his record as soon as possible.”
He added: “I get on very well with Sergio, he’s an amazing guy “All of us know what type of player he is and he’s also a fantastic person.
“I’m a big fan of his and it’s great to play alongside him. When you have a good relationship off the pitch, it’s easier to bring it onto it. We help each other and we both fight for the shirt.”
Gabriel Jesus has been scoring at a rapid pace for City and to date has 17 goals in 28 appearances. He needs 162 goals to equal Agüero’s current tally of 179 strikes, and that doesn’t factor in the many goals still to come from the Argentine icon.
With that in mind, it seems that Brazil’s newest sensation Gabriel Jesus has his eyes on a long-term stay at the Etihad Stadium.
