Manchester City face a fight to hang on to another of their young academy talents with a host of clubs keen on signing teenage Dutch winger Javairo Dilrosun, a report by ESPN FC claims.
Dilrosun, 19, is one of the many highly-rated talents in the burgeoning City Football Academy, and prominent clubs hope to lure him away with the promise of a quicker pathway to the first team. A similar guarantee from Borussia Dortmund led to City losing Jadon Sancho in the summer.
Liverpool, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Valencia are just some of the clubs after the Netherlands under-19 international, who joined Man City from Ajax in 2014.
The youngster faces a fight to break into Pep Guardiola’s first team plans, with the likes of Leroy Sané and Raheem Sterling occupying the flanks, but ESPN FC reports that City are determined to hold on to Dilrosun amid growing interest.
Dilrosun features regularly for City’s under-23 side in the Premier League 2 but will soon make the step up to the senior game. Should he remain at City, a loan move, possibly to a partner club such as Girona FC, would be the most likely option.
However, the temptation of joining Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund or getting first team minutes for the likes of Juventus or Liverpool mean City may have a fight on their hands to keep hold of Dilrosun.
