Feyenoord could be without their star striker and the Dutch league’s top scorer from last season, Nicolai Jørgensen, for tomorrow’s clash with Manchester City.
The Danish international, who found the net at weekend in Feyenoord’s 1-1 draw against VVV-Venlo, was named in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s 19-man squad, released earlier today.
However, at his pre-match press conference in Manchester tonight, Van Bronckhorst said Jørgensen, who also missed the reverse fixture in September through injury, may not be fit to play on Tuesday night.
“He did not feel fully fit today and I won’t take any risks with players who have minor complaints,” the former Barcelona player said.
Like so many coaches recently, Van Bronckhorst was highly complimentary of City, who are close to winning Group F after securing qualification in the last Champions League gameweek.
“They have only drawn once – in the league at home. Other teams couldn’t cope with the quality they have and the football they are showing.
“I don’t think you will find a person in this room, in Europe or perhaps the world that will say City are not one of the best teams at the moment.”
