Uruguyan side Club Atlético Torque are celebrating promotion to country’s top flight, nine years after they were founded.

One of the lesser known members of the City Football Group family, Torque signed a 10-year accord with the CFG back in April.
In addition to investing in the club, which has clearly paid off already, the deal gives City a hub in South America to further dig into the local market, potentially saving the club a fortune in transfer fees.
Torque’s promotion to Uruguay’s Primera División follows other CFG clubs NAC Breda (Netherlands) and Girona FC (Spain) also winning their way into the top flights of their respective countries.
