After a blistering start to the season for Manchester City, Raheem Sterling is set for talks over a contract extension in early 2018, the Mirror reports.
Sterling has been one of the stand-out players in both the Premier League (7 goals, 2 assists) and Champions League (3 goals) in this campaign, his improvement under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola clear for all to see.
And Raz, who turns 23 next month, is in line for a bumper new deal, despite being only half way through the 5-year contract he signed upon arriving from Liverpool in 2015.
The Mirror claims that City chiefs Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain plan to sit down and discuss fresh terms with Sterling in the New Year, with others such as Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva first in line to be handed new deals.
The report states that Sterling will receive a pay rise to around £200,000-a-week upon signing a contract that will keep him at the Etihad until his late 20s.
A new contract will be a show of faith from Etihad bosses after a shameful rant by Arsene Wenger following Man City’s 3-1 win over Arsenal prior to the international break, during which the Frenchman branded Raheem a “good diver”.
