He is just 17 years of age, but Hamburg striker Jann-Fiete Arp already has two Bundesliga goals in two appearances (one of them as a substitute).
The Germany under-17 international, who has found the net 15 times in 17 appearances for his country in that age group, is one of Germany’s most exciting young talents.
It should come as no surprise then that big clubs around Europe are already making overtures, trying to secure his services before his value skyrockets.
According to SPORT BILD, Manchester City are one of the clubs to have already approached Arp, having done so in the spring along with Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus.
Despite the temptation of joining big Premier League clubs or even the Serie A champions, and no doubt receiving a pay rise, the fair-haired starlet decided to stay at HSV – for now.
Hamburg are under pressure again now though, conscious of the fact that Arp’s contract expires in 2019. The club’s sporting director Jens Todt says “We want to extend his contract,” but there will be no talks for the time being.
If Arp decides he does want to move next summer, Hamburg will be forced to sell, and the likes of Man City, Chelsea and Spurs will be fighting each other to snap up one of German football’s brightest young talents.
