Liverpool fear that they are going to lose Germany midfielder Emre Can to Manchester City next summer on a free transfer, according to an exclusive report in the Daily Star Sunday.
This news comes on the heels of a report from Italy in the first week of November claiming City were serious about grabbing the 23-year-old on a free transfer next summer.
Can has rejected a new deal to stay at Anfield and unless something changes there, he will be hot property in the summer as a free agent. Serie A giants Juventus want him, but the Daily Star claims to have information from Italy that Juve feel they will lose out to City.
If Can does make the short journey from Anfield to the Etihad, it would be a little payback after Liverpool snatched James Milner on a Bosman from City in 2015, despite repeated attempts to keep the England international in Manchester.
Can has made 14 appearances this season for Liverpool, scoring once and setting up two goals. He also appeared for Germany against England in their 0-0 draw on Friday, coming off the bench to replace Julian Draxler in the 67th minute.
Can would join fellow German internationals İlkay Gündoğan and Leroy Sané were he to join Man City, and could potentially replace Yaya Touré who is out of contract in June and unlikely to receive another extension.
