Manchester City preparing summer move for Liverpool contract rebel – report

Manchester City are preparing to rival Juventus for the free transfer signing of Liverpool midfielder Emre Can next summer, Italian source Calciomercato.com claims in an exclusive report.

The 23-year-old Germany international has failed to agree a new contract with Liverpool and unless that changes, will be one of the hottest free agents on the market next summer.

And City are now said to be very serious about adding him to their squad, so much so that they are ready to better Juventus’ contract offer of €4.5million a season plus bonuses.

City will need at least one central midfielder next summer with Yaya Touré almost certain to not receive a new deal having played very little for Pep Guardiola’s side this season.

Fernandinho, who is also out of contract in June, has also yet to pen a contract extension although given his impressive form this season a new deal seems very likely.

The sturdy Can, who can also play as a central defender, would join fellow German internationals İlkay Gündoğan and Leroy Sané at the Etihad Stadium were he to make the switch from Anfield.

Do you think Emre Can would be a good addition to the Manchester City squad?

Sergio Aguero became Manchester City’s all-time record goalscorer with his goal against Napoli.
