Manchester City are earning praise from all quarters right now, not only because they are winning – and winning a lot – but because they are doing it while playing the best football in Europe.
As per usual on Fridays, managers have been giving their pre-match press conferences today, and both Antonio Conte of Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino of Spurs have praised their title rivals.
Conte said, “Now there are big problems for all the teams that want to fight for the title. The big problem is Manchester City. If City continue in this way, it will be difficult to fight for the title.
“We have to try to do our best. I don’t know, honestly, if they will continue. Until now, they are on a fantastic path. If they continue it will be very difficult for other teams to fight for the title until the end.”
The Chelsea boss saw close up how good Man City can be when Pep Guardiola’s side defeated them at Stamford Bridge at the end of September in what was a fantastic performance.
Pochettino, who recently had some less than complimentary things to say about Guardiola, also spoke highly of City, saying they are currently the crème de la crème.
“They are the most in-form team in Europe,” Pochettino told the media.
“They are doing very well in the Premier League and Champions League showing unbelievable performances.
“The challenge for them is to be consistent for the whole season but they show great quality. Today, right now, they are the best team in Europe.”
The question on everyone’s lips right now is can Manchester City keep up this incredible level of quality and consistency all season? Arsenal will look to put them to the test on Sunday when they visit the Etihad Stadium.
Sergio Aguero became Manchester City’s all-time record goalscorer with his goal against Napoli.
