Manchester City are yet to win a match in which Felix Brych has taken charge, and will hope to change that on Wednesday night with the German referee put in charge of City’s trip to Napoli.
Brych has overseen two previous City games in the Champions League, both in 2015 over two separate editions of Europe’s most prestigious competition. The first was a 2-1 defeat to Barcelona at the Etihad, in which Brych sent over Gael Clichy for a second bookable offence after he fouled Dani Alves.
In the following season’s campaign, he oversaw City’s 1-0 defeat to Juventus in Turin, handing out three yellow cards – all of them to City.
Napoli have fared slightly better under Brych with one win and one defeat. He had the whistle for their 4-2 win over Benfica in last year’s Champions League, but was also in charge when Chelsea battered the Serie A side 4-1 back in 2012.
