Pep Guardiola addressed the media at the Etihad Campus today ahead of Saturday’s game against Burnley and revealed Sergio Aguero is “ready” to play tomorrow.
“Aguero was ready to start (against Napoli). He could have played against Stoke but was not completely fit. He is ready for tomorrow,” the City boss said.
Questions continue about the fitness of Vincent Kompany. The club captain last featured for City on 26 August, almost two months ago, but still isn’t ready.
“He’s not ready. Not yet. Everybody else is okay… everybody is fit.”
When asked if he has any idea when Vinny will be back, Pep just shook his head and said “No.”
Napoli to Burnley is quite a stylistic change of opponents, something Guardiola acknowledged.
“The way we play against Napoli is totally different to Burnley. We have to adapt.”
#SharkTeam leader Benjamin Mendy continues to be ever-present despite his long-term injury. Pep was asked about this and spoke about the left-back staying active with the team and fan base.
“Usually, long injury players are sad, they train apart and feel isolated. Benjamin Mendy decided to be present, on social media, WhatsApp.
“He calls his teammates and messages me. He is going to be so important because people like him make the atmosphere much better.”
