Kevin De Bruyne’s agent comments on new Man City deal, possible transfer abroad, Ballon d’Or chances

The Italian footballing media is famed for getting comments from agents that no one else can seem to – even if the agent represents a player not based in Serie A! This has led to some juicy transfer exclusives originating in Italy over the years.

Kevin De Bruyne’s agent, Patrick De Koster, is one such agent to have offered his insight to Italy’s press after appearing on Radio Crc today ahead of City’s highly anticipated clash with Napoli in the Champions League.

“It will be a great game this evening,” De Koster said. “Napoli are top of the league, but will face a team playing great football in City. It should be a spectacular match.

“Sarri? For me, he is one of the best coaches in the world, many of the world’s top agents will confirm it.”

Can Kevin De Bruyne win the Ballon d’Or award? De Koster doesn’t think it’s possible this year – few have a chance while the two most prominent footballers in the world continue to perform as they do.

“He can’t expect to win the Ballon d’Or at the moment, he’s still far from footballers like Messi and CR7. Everything will depend on how much he can achieve with City, there’s still a big difference now.”

A new deal for the 26-year-old has been speculated about in the English press recently, and De Bruyne’s agent confirmed that there are plans to discuss one.

“In the coming months, I’ll meet with City to figure out how to improve and extend his contract.

“His salary? I cannot say. But if you think what Neymar and Mbappé are being paid, you can picture…”

Finally, with Radio Crc being Naples-based and covering City’s Champions League opponents, De Koster was asked about the prospect of his client joining the Serie A side at some point. His answer was very diplomatic, exactly what you’d expect from a smart agent.

“In football, you can never rule out anything, I don’t see why he couldn’t play for Napoli some day.”

For now, Kevin De Bruyne will certainly be going nowhere and is poised to remain the centerpiece of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side for a long time to come.
