Manchester City will revive their interest in Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand in January, according to an exclusive report in today’s Sun on Sunday.
The England international was a target in the summer, but when Dani Alves unexpectedly snubbed a move to City in favour of PSG, City instead had to use funds on a full-back capable of playing either side, and that turned out to be Danilo.
With Benjamin Mendy out for much of the season now though, Pep Guardiola is ready to launch a £30million for 28-year-old Bertrand, who would be another home-grown talent added to the squad if he made the switch from St. Mary’s.
Bertrand is just the latest of several to be linked with a January move to the Etihad, with Napoli ace Faouzi Ghoulam a target according to reports in Algeria and Italy.
Meanwhile, as we reported earlier, Espanyol left-back Aarón Martin is still being watched and highly-rated Valencia flyer José Luis Gayà is another candidate to add depth in a role currently occupied by Fabian Delph.
