Manchester City are finalising a deal with Amazon Prime that will grant the digital streaming giant unprecedented access to the Etihad Stadium to shoot a brand new documentary series.
And while it was reported on Thursday that this tie-up will bank City around £10million, new information today reveals that the club’s coffers will receive a much bigger injection of cash.
According to Charles Sale of the Daily Mail, who has been on top of the story since the beginning, this project will be even more lucrative than first reported. Amazon are offering City an enormous £24million for over three year’s worth of behind-the-scenes access to the club.
It is a huge amount and pretty much the same sum that City handed over for players such as David Silva and Yaya Touré in the past. Of course, £24million would not get such world-class talents so easily now, but would certainly help fund a major transfer.
The agreement between Manchester City and Amazon is yet to be officially formalised or announced, but when it is, Amazon will begin shooting a fly-on-the-wall documentary series that is sure to be fascinating and insightful.
