Stoke City will be without three of their star players on Saturday when they make the daunting trip to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Defensive duo Ryan Shawcross and Bruno Martins Indi are confirmed to miss the game, manager Mark Hughes revealed at his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
“We will still be missing Ryan Shawcross, which is disappointing, although he is making good progress.
“We have to be patient with him, although we do feel that he will be back pretty soon.
“Unfortunately Bruno (Martins Indi) still isn’t with us neither, so we are going to have to wait on him a little bit longer.”
A newer injury concern is midfielder Joe Allen, who picked up a head injury as Wales missed out on World Cup qualification this week.
Allen is considered a doubt, so isn’t completely ruled out yet, but the current signs are that he’ll be absent for the game.
Stoke have given Manchester City some problems at the Etihad in recent years, losing only one of their last three visits – picking up a win and draw in that time. In March, the two teams played out a 0-0 draw as City found themselves unable to break down a resolute Stoke defence that featured the duo that will be absent on Saturday, Shawcross and Martins Indi.
