Sergio Agüero can never be accused of not being committed to the cause and speaking to TyC Sports has said one of his first questions after being involved in a car accident was if he’d be fit to play for City the following Saturday!
Agüero could be fit to face Stoke at the weekend in what would be a faster than expected recovery after injuring his ribs, especially after the Argentine national team doctor suggested the 29-year-old would be out for a minimum of six weeks.
“When I got to the hospital I asked the doctor if I could play for City on the Saturday,” Kun told TyC Sports. “He said, ‘I don’t believe so’.
“I took a moment to think and realised it’s thanks to wearing a seat-belt that I’m able to talk about this at all.
“(On Thursday) I’ll rejoin the group and see how I feel, whether I’m comfortable or not.”
The iconic striker is back in training and with four home games coming up in the space of ten days, a return would be a huge boost for City as they look to continue an impressive run of form that sees them top of the table in both the Premier League and Champions League Group F.
