Manchester City supporters and football fans in general will be given better insight than ever before into how an elite Premier League club functions, with Amazon Prime finalising the details of a deal to film a fly-on-the-wall documentary series about City.
According to Charles Sale of the Daily Mail, the digital streaming service will pay City more than £10million for full access to all areas of the Etihad Stadium, which will enable them to film footage of the type we’d never see anywhere else, including from official club media.
This has not gone down well with Sky though, who are less than pleased that Amazon are being given such access having paid £4billion for their current Premier League TV rights – or £11million per match.
The Premier League also have strict regulations around matchday coverage in order to protect the rights purchased by Sky and BT Sports, plus their overseas partners.
Either way, this series promises to be very interesting for Blues who will be given the most candid look yet into how their beloved club operates – and what goes on away from the official club cameras.
