Gabriel Jesus continues to shine on the international stage just as he has been doing for Manchester City and found the net twice tonight as Brazil doomed Claudio Bravo’s Chile to elimination in the World Cup qualifiers.
It was a game that featured three Man City stars with a fourth (Danilo) on the bench. Both of City’s main goalkeepers, Ederson and Bravo, started for their countries, Gabriel Jesus led the line for Brazil, and Fernandinho came off the bench late on.
Jesus scored two fairly routine goals, the first a tap-in after Neymar squared the ball, and the second which saw him run the ball into the net after Claudio Bravo had headed up the pitch as Chile desperately sought a goal.
Brazil’s 3-0 win meant Ederson kept a clean sheet on debut for the Seleção, which will do his chances of winning more caps no harm.

Meanwhile, a Lionel Messi masterclass ensured Argentina will be playing at the World Cup after they were at serious risk of missing out.
Messi scored a hat-trick as Argentina beat Ecuador, with Nicolas Otamendi featuring. He and Manchester City teammate Sergio Aguero will therefore be joining many other City stars in Russia later this year for the World Cup.
