Manchester City starlet could face lengthy ban after headbutt on international duty

One of Manchester City’s promising young talents, Aro Muric, could face a lengthy international ban after headbutting an opponent in front of the referee on Monday night.

Muric, who is now regularly part of Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad as the third-choice goalkeeper behind Ederson and Claudio Bravo, was representing Montenegro under-21s against Slovenia under-21s.

And after Slovenia’s Martin Kramaric asked the referee to punish Muric for a challenge and gave the 18-year-old a small shove, Aro lost his temper and headbutted Kramaric.

The referee quickly brandished a red card and an angry Muric threw the ball in the direction of Zan Zuzek, who was still down on the pitch.

The nature of this incident could lead to Muric facing an extended spell on the sidelines for his country, although it will not impact his club duties with City.
