David Silva is poised to extend his Manchester City contract after a breakthrough took place in negotiations following reports that talks over an extension had stalled.
According to Ian Ladyman of the Daily Mail, talks have been ongoing since the start of the season, but backing up a recent story from Italy, the story states that there have been some issues over wages that have put a new deal at risk.
However, the news is good with progress having been made over a new £150,000-a-week deal for the Spanish wizard that will see him spend the remainder of his best days at Manchester City, where he has dazzled crowds since arriving in the summer of 2010.
Silva has always said he’d like to end his career back in Spain with Las Palmas and that is still likely to be his plan, but not while he is at the peak of his powers. Despite now being 31, Silva remains one of European football’s finest midfielders and his form has been excellent for Pep Guardiola’s side this season.
