Manchester City face serious competition from PSG in hunt for Alexis Sanchez – report

Manchester City’s idea of grabbing Alexis Sanchez on the cheap in January or on a free transfer next summer may not be so straightforward, with Le Parisien reporting today that Paris Saint-Germain are also working on a deal to sign the Arsenal star.

PSG were known to be keen on Alexis during the summer, but he held out for a reunion with Pep Guardiola, snubbing the interest of the Parisiens and Bayern Munich only to see a deal, which had been agreed in principle between the two clubs, collapse on deadline day.

Unai Emery still has Alexis in his thoughts and Le Parisien believes the Ligue 1 giants are ready sell goal machine Edinson Cavani to free a spot for 28-year-old Sanchez, who would join Neymar and Kylian Mbappé in a fearsome attacking trio.

Alexis is tempted by a move to the French capital but also remains very open to joining Manchester City, who are still interested in adding him to an already impressive strike-force. A bid of around £20million has been rumoured for the January window, or alternatively City will hope to land Sanchez on a free transfer next summer.

However, if today’s reports from Paris are accurate, Pep Guardiola may have fierce competition for the in-demand Alexis Sanchez, and this could make City make a concerted effort to sign him in January, with PSG unlikely to make their move until the summer 2018 transfer window.
