Blues Brothers: How Kyle Walker and John Stones hit it off at the Etihad

With the Blues getting off to a blistering start, Mendy owning social media and Aguero’s crash, it might’ve been easy to miss the beautiful ‘bromance’ that has bubbled between two of our defensive stalwarts, John Stones and Kyle Walker.

They’re both Yorkshiremen who were brought up only 16 miles apart, in Barnsley and Sheffield respectively, so what more did they need in common to hit it off?

Apart from both being superb footballers, they’re also down to earth, all round good guys who would be great to have a pint with. They don’t take life too seriously and throw themselves into the club’s media commitments, while delivering grade A bantering with teammates.

Their relationship off the pitch has also transpired into a completely transformed defence on it, oozing in confidence, aggression and unwavering desire to keep a clean sheet – helped in no small part to Ederson’s commanding presence in the sticks. Stones, in particular, looks like a man reborn with his pal next to him and let’s hope they can look forward to a beautiful future together. Aw.

Let’s take a quick look at some of their best moments together so far.
