Over the last year-and-a-half, Borussia Dortmund goal machine Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been frequently mentioned as a target for Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola said to be an admirer of the Gabonese international.
In the last two summer transfer windows, 28-year-old Aubameyang has been linked with a switch to the Etihad and even admitted at one point that some talks had happened in the summer of 2016, when famed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that City were optimistic of a deal happening.
Nothing panned out and despite being rumoured to be an alternative for Alexis Sanchez in the most recent transfer window, Auba again remained at Westfalenstadion.
And according to the man himself, he has never particularly wanted a move to Manchester City or any other Premier League club.
In an interview with French TV show Téléfoot, Aubameyang said, “Manchester City interest? The Premier League has never appealed to me. That’s just my opinion.”
He has also been linked with a big money move to China, but said “there is still a lack of professionalism” in the Chinese Super League and ruled that out for the moment.
Like Isco recently, it appears these comments can put to bed a long-running Manchester City transfer saga. City are certainly not short of goals at the moment, but are still expected to make another move for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez either in January or next summer, at which point he will be out of contract and available on a free transfer.
