Venue: Stamford Bridge
Date: 30 September 2017
Referee: Martin Atkinson
Kick off: 17:30
The Blues travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon in a bid to cement their label as serious title contenders.
Guardiola’s men failed to beat the defending Champions last season and will be keen to bolster their credentials against Top 6 teams.
What looks to be City’s biggest game of the season so far, a draw here would most likely insert some clarity on a flawless start to the campaign, but a win would surely send a frightening message.
Chelsea: The five time Premier League winners are without David Luiz due to suspension and Danny Drinkwater is still yet to recover from a calf injury.
Pedro also looked likely to miss this encounter but his appearance on the bench against Atletico means he is likely to feature.
Manchester City: Benjamin Mendy has unfortunately suffered a serious knee/ACL injury and will definitely miss the trip to London.
Vincent Kompany is also a major doubt with his lingering calf problem but Roberto Martinez has called him up for Belgium straight after the Chelsea match anyway.
Sergio Aguero is a fresh absentee after being involved in a car accident in Amsterdam on Thursday night. The result of which has left him with a fractured rib. The Argentine was reportedly attending a concert beforehand.
Currently sat in 3rd place, just three points behind City following their solid start to the campaign, Chelsea will be looking to pick up where they left off in the league following a ruthless 4-0 victory at Stoke.
Manchester City: WDWWWW
Unbeaten and top of the league, City’s imperious form has resulted in pundits everywhere tipping them for the title, even at this early stage. The Blues have scored 21 goals in just six matches so far and fans will hope their insatiable appetite for the net just keeps growing.
Where to watch:
BT Sport is Saturday’s designated live channel but if you do not subscribe, fear not. The match is also live in America on NBC so finding a stream online shouldn’t be too difficult.
BBC Radio 5 Live will also be covering at Stamford Bridge but if you don’t even have a radio our City Watch journalists will be keeping up to date through Twitter.
