There will be no Sergio Agüero vs. David Luiz duel at Stamford Bridge on 30 September after the Brazilian was sent off in today’s Chelsea vs. Arsenal game.
Luiz went into Sead Kolašinac studs-first and referee Michael Oliver was quick to brandish a red card. The match finished 0-0, a good result for City in what has in general been a good weekend so far, with Liverpool and Tottenham also dropping points.
Luiz’s red card is more good news for City ahead of their tricky away trip to Stamford Bridge later this month, with the 30-year-old now certain to miss that match through suspension.
City were narrowly beaten at the Bridge last season, a goal from Sergio Aguero not enough as Eden Hazard scored a brace to give the eventual champions a 2-1 win. In the away fixture prior to that though, Aguero scored a hat-trick as City thrashed their London rivals 3-0.
Kun is in hot form right now after a hat-trick against Watford on Saturday and will hope to continue his excellent goal scoring form against Luiz-less Chelsea when the sides meet in two weeks’ time.
