A brand new Champions League campaign kicks off for Manchester City tonight against Feyenoord at the intimidating De Kuip in Rotterdam.
City have reached the Round of 16 in the past four seasons, going all the way to the semi-finals in 2015-16 under Manuel Pellegrini, but with the lofty ambitions of the club the feeling is that there needs to be more progress soon, even a place in the final itself.
To achieve those goals, Feyenoord, Napoli and Shakhtar Donetsk must first be overcome in the group stage, with only two of the four allowed to reach the next stage, and it all begins tonight.
Szymon Marciniak of Poland is tonight’s referee and here are the starting XIs selected by Barcelona old boys Pep Guardiola and Giovanni van Bronckhorst:
Feyenoord XI: Jones, St. Juste, van der Heijden, Boëtius, El Ahmadi (c), Vilhena, Nelom, Berghuis, Amrabat, Kramer, Botteghin
Manchester City XI: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Mendy, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, David Silva, Jesus, Aguero
