The FA has rejected an appeal by Liverpool against the length of a three-match ban for Sadio Mané after he was sent off for kicking Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson in the face.
It was the big talking point of last weekend’s fixtures, with Mané catching Ederson with a high foot when City were 1-0 up against Liverpool at the Etihad, raking his face with studs and cutting him open.

23-year-old Ederson required treatment for eight minutes before being stretchered off. He is now training in protective head gear and has travelled with the squad to Rotterdam, putting him in contention to face Feyenoord tomorrow.
Liverpool felt three matches was too excessive for the challenge and took their complaint to the FA, but the ban has been upheld and Mané will sit out Liverpool’s next three domestic fixtures.
