Polish referee Szymon Marciniak will take charge of his first Manchester City match on Wednesday night when the Blues travel to Rotterdam to face Feyenoord in their Champions League opener.
The 36-year-old is a young referee and has never taken charge of either a City or Feyenoord game in European competitions before. His most recent appointment was the Champions League qualifier between Napoli and Nice at the Stadio San Paolo, during which he dished out two yellow cards and two red cards.
In UEFA and FIFA competitions, Marciniak averages 3.8 yellow cards per games, 0.29 red cards per game, and 0.39 penalties per game.
