Manchester City’s move for Alexis Sanchez is almost certainly dead after Arsenal felt there wasn’t enough time to sign his replacement, Thomas Lemar, according to David Hytner of The Guardian.

Hytner says the message he has received from Arsenal is that they have simply run out of time to sign Lemar – despite there being over six hours remaining before the transfer window closes.
The knock-on effect is that Arsene Wenger does not want to relinquish Sanchez, who has apparently already told his Chile teammates he’s heading for City, and may now have to wait a year for a free transfer move to the Etihad.
Of course, with the way this transfer window has been, there could still be further developments and conflicting stories! But if this is true, it’s a bitter blow for Pep Guardiola in his attempts to bring in another attacker. He’ll just have to make do with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus…
