Crystal Palace have tonight made a £23million bid for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala, according to Charlie Wyett, football editor at The Sun. This comes after another failed attempt to sign Mamadou Sakho, with Liverpool holding out for £30million.

Wyett states that the bid came very late in the night, so City have yet to accept or reject it. Even if they do accept it, the 26-year-old has already snubbed moves to Spartak Moscow and Stoke this summer, while also being cold on a switch to West Brom, so there is no guarantee he will accept it.
Inter are pressing forward in their attempts to sign Mangala on loan before the transfer deadline, and his desire has been a move to the San Siro. For City, £23million would be an excellent fee and recoup a big chunk of the amount paid to FC Porto for him.
Now we wait for the club’s response and perhaps more crucially, Mangala’s view on the idea of moving to Selhurst Park.
