Arsenal reject £50m bid from Manchester City for Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal have knocked back a £50million bid from Manchester City for Alexis Sanchez today, according to various sources who have clearly received a briefing from the club.

No players were offered to Arsenal by City bosses, who want to sign the 28-year-old in a cash only deal. The feeling is that City are determined to complete a deal without sacrificing Raheem Sterling or Sergio Aguero, two players Arsene Wenger would like to see go the other way.

David Ornstein, reliable for all matters Arsenal, insists that Arsenal’s stance hasn’t changed, although having agreed to negotiate with City, it seems to have softened somewhat.

City remain confident of striking a deal before Thursday’s transfer deadline having (finally) made their opening bid after months and months of speculation.
