Manchester City were one of thirty clubs with a scouting presence at SC Braga vs. FC Porto last night, as the visitors claimed a narrow 1-0 win thanks to an early Jesús Corona goal.

In addition to City, Premier League sides Manchester United, Southampton and Everton had scouts in attendance, while other clubs with representatives in the stands included AC Milan, Atalanta, Monaco and Benfica.

City could have been watching a host of names from the footballing hotbed that is the Portuguese league, but the most likely subject of their attention would have been Danilo Pereira, the 25-year-old defensive midfielder who two prominent newspapers recently claimed City have an interest in.

Danilo, who has a €60million (£55.3million) release clause that Porto are unwilling to negotiate on, featured for the full 90 minutes at the Estádio Municipal de Braga.

Both O Jogo and A Bola reported City’s interest in the combative midfielder, with the belief being that Pep Guardiola would want him signed for the 2018-19 season, rather than this summer.

Others previously linked with a move to the Etihad, including Óliver Torres, Héctor Herrera and Yacine Brahimi, were also involved in the match.
