Manchester City to face West Bromwich Albion in the Carabao Cup third round

In a draw unusually held at 4:15am BST in Beijing to appease the Thai sponsors, Manchester City were drawn against West Brom in the Carabao Cup (League Cup) third round.

The game will take place at the Hawthorns with all sixteen ties in the Carabao Cup third round scheduled to be played in the week commencing September 18, 2017.

Manchester City and West Brom are yet to face each other in the Premier League this season however City came out as 3-1 victors last time the two sides met. It remains to be seen which team Jonny Evans will line up for – will it be West Brom or Manchester City? The Blues have been linked with a £30 million move for the former Manchester United man and are reportedly on the cusp of a deal.

For anyone confused, the Carabao Cup is the EFL/Football League Cup, previously the Capital One Cup and Carling Cup. Carabao Energy Drink is a Thai energy drink launched in 2002 by Carabao Tawandang Co Ltd and is now Thailand’s second most popular energy drink.

City last won this trophy in 2016, beating Liverpool in a penalty shootout at Wembley. The Blues also lifted the cup in 2014 when they came from behind to beat Sunderland and have won the competition four times in total.
