Tottenham are hoping to beat rivals Arsenal to the signing of wantaway Manchester City starlet Jadon Sancho, who has grown disillusioned up north and hopes to secure a move away before the transfer window closes.
City have failed to convince the 17-year-old to pen a new deal and although he remains under contract, Spurs plan a £3million bid for him this month according to the Daily Mirror.
If City hold on to Sancho until his contract ends next summer, they would be entitled to an unknown amount of compensation for the England youth international, and may decide to cash in now.
Spurs are said to be optimistic about their chances of signing Sancho, although Arsenal are also very keen on teaming him up with his close friend Reiss Nelson at the Emirates.
Bundesliga clubs Red Bull Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund also want Sancho, and there has even been talk of interest from neighbours Manchester United, but a return to London, where he previously played for Watford, appears most likely.
Daniel Levy already tried to acquire Sancho as part of the Kyle Walker deal earlier this summer, but hopeful that they could convince him to stay in Manchester, Man City chiefs turned down that proposal. However, he may end up at White Hart Lane after all if Tottenham make a suitable bid for the highly-rated attacker.
